The Seacoast Science Center’s Rescue Run: Race for Marine Mammals, held April 22, 2017, features a popular 5k chip-timed trail race and un-timed walk through Odiorne Point State Park. Now in its 9th year, the popular Race follows the 5k cross-country trail route created by Jennifer Shultis, captain of Team Eastern Mountain Sports, 2006 US Adventure Racing National Champions. You’ll run through the forest, by the rocky shore, across a sandy beach, and alongside historic military fortifications. Prizes are awarded to top finishers in age and gender categories, as well as the overall male and female runner. Please note: strollers are not permitted on the 5k route and dogs are not allowed in the park. The Kid’s Fun Run included a 300-yard dash or ½ mile run. All children registered for the fun run receive a prize. All proceeds from the Rescue Run support the Center’s Marine Mammal Rescue program.
