    Strawbery Banke Museum
    Job Description
    In partnership with the President & CEO, the Director of Development will spearhead development efforts to support the Museum’s mission and vision. Primary efforts will be focused on revenue growth through individual major and planned giving, extended development of corporate partnerships, increased grant activity, membership retention and expansion, and achieving greater revenue from special events.

    Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Plan, develop, coordinate, direct, and manage all fundraising
    • Collaborate with the President and Board of Trustees to create a fund development plan that increases revenues to support the strategic direction of the Museum
    • Aggressively seek new funding sources, with a focus on
    • Ensure stewardship of past, current and prospective donors through personal visits, articulate correspondence, timely gift acknowledgements, and follow-through
    • Develop a comprehensive marketing and communication plan, in collaboration with the Director of Marketing, to promote the organization to its donors and maximize public awareness of the fundraising activities of the Museum
    • Build relationships with community stakeholders to advance the mission and fundraising goals of the Museum
    • Evaluate the effect of internal and external forces on the Museum and its fund development; recommend short- and long-range fund development plans and programs that support the Museum’s values, mission and general objectives
    • Monitor and evaluate all fundraising activities to ensure that the fundraising goals are being achieved
    • Work collaboratively with the President and Board of Trustees on implementation of capital campaign strategy
    • Manage, train, motivate and supervise Development staff members in all fundraising activities
    • Develop and oversee budgets, work plans and realistic timetables to accomplish Museum goals
    • Manage the annual fund, including membership, major donors, and general contributions
    • Oversee foundation and corporate grants, corporate sponsorships, and site rental programs
    • Supervise the management of gift processing and donor acknowledgement, the donor database, and financial reporting
    • Maintain accurate and confidential gift and research records

    • Bachelor’s degree in related field; Master’s preferred
    • Proven track record of fundraising success, particularly by securing major gifts from individuals, foundations, and corporations, successfully managing campaigns, and engaging a community of motivated supporters
    • Ability to develop and implement creative fundraising strategies, including marketing techniques
    • Strong organizational skills, and ability to balance multiple priorities in a complex environment
    • Excellent interpersonal, supervision, administration, and management skills
    • Analytical, budgeting and finance experience
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Computer and fundraising software skills
