Bank of America makes “Basic Needs” Grant to Families First

PORTSMOUTH – The Bank of America Charitable Foundation recently granted $15,000 to Families First Health & Support Center, the community health center in Portsmouth. The grant will be used toward salaries of Families First’s staff who help people get their basic needs met: care coordinators, insurance enrollment assisters, home visitors, and medication assistance program staff.
The grant is part of the foundation’s ongoing investment in addressing immediate critical needs, such as hunger and shelter, and longer-term solutions that promote financial wellness through access to benefits and resources.
“This grant, demonstrates that Bank of America understands that as a community health center, we need to provide the supports to ensure our clients’ basic needs are being met,” says Executive Director Helen Taft. “The overall health of a person is impacted if they struggle to make ends meet, keep food on the table and a roof overhead, pay for medications, and more. Supporting our clients’ basic needs is one of the ways Families First cares for the WHOLE person.”
Bank of America has supported Families First annually since 2005.
Families First Health and Support Center is a nonprofit community health center providing primary, prenatal, behavioral and oral health care; parent and family groups; one-on-one family support; and mobile health care. Learn more at 603-422-8208 or FamiliesFirstSeacoast.org.
