Brett Dennen Partners with Prescott Park Arts Festival and the Blue Ocean Society this August

For decades, Prescott Park Arts Festival has presented access to high quality and family-friendly performance arts to the seacoast community. Now in its 43rd season, the Festival has announced a new partnership. Joined by the Blue Ocean Society, the Festival embarks on their first ever Summer Beach Clean-Up on Tuesday, August 8th. This inaugural event will feature a guest appearance with Californiabased singer/songwriter Brett Dennen, which will be followed by Dennen’s return to the Wilcox Mainstage on Wednesday, August 9th as part of the River House Restaurant Concert Series in Prescott Park this summer.

Dennen has focused his most recent tour channel on vacation friendly hotspots with natural water features like beaches, lakes, rivers, bays, and oceans. Dennen shared he doesn’t only seek to entertain his fans with his melodies and joyful lyrics, but also hopes to leave each place he visits just a little bit better than when he got there. On the seacoast of NH, that means joining forces with the Blue Ocean Society and Prescott Park Arts Festival to clean up Foss Beach in Rye.

“We’re really proud to expand our sustainability efforts and offer this opportunity to help make a difference and raise awareness at the same time,” said Festival President Ben Anderson. “We’ve reduced the amount of waste coming out of the park dramatically over the years, and to have a fun opportunity to do more made a whole lot of sense.”

Beginning at 6pm, Brett Dennen will join volunteers in an effort to sweep Foss Beach in Rye, and end the evening with a campfire, refreshments and a few intimate acoustic songs by Dennen.

The event is open to all, free of charge, and interested people are asked to RSVP through the festival website, www.prescottpark.org, as participation is limited.

The Blue Ocean Society, located in Hampton, NH, strives to protect marine life through research, education and inspiring action. They host a variety events such as monthly beach clean ups, whale watches, and other events throughout the year in an effort to reduce the amount of waste found in oceans and on beaches.

Prescott Park Arts Festival, an independent non-profit organization, is the Seacoast’s premier outdoor performing arts venue, offering a uniquely accessible experience of high quality live theater and music – with no fixed admissions fees -- in an idyllic natural setting. For many residents, the festival provides a first experience with live performances, professional performance opportunities for aspiring and seasoned actors, as well as more than twelve community groups.

Over the last forty-three years, this community arts organization has reached more than 3 million people through more than 10,000 events. This season marks the 43rd anniversary of the festival and features the magical Mary Poppins musical, presented by C&J Lines, as its signature musical production on the Wilcox Industries Main Stage. In addition, a mix of local, national and international artists will grace the stage as part of the River House Restaurant Concert Series. Many favorite movies such as Finding Dory, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Dirty Dancing and more will be shown as part of the outdoor movie series.

Dennens performance is part of the Festival’s beloved River House Restaurant Concert Series that features an array of acts including Darlingside (Wednesday , July 19); Conor Oberst of Bright Eyes, Desaparecidos, and Monsters of Folk (Sunday, July 23); Michael Franti & Spearhead (Wednesday, July 26); New Pornographers (Friday, July 28); outlaw-country rocker Nikki Lane (Wednesday, August 2); Mary Chapin Carpenter (Thursday, August 3); Aaron Neville (Friday, August 11); a historic collaboration of blues titans, Taj Mahal with Keb’ Mo’ (Wednesday, August 16); folk troubadour, Joe Purdy (Wednesday, August 23); Ballroom Thieves (Saturday, September 2); and New Orleans funk band, Galactic (Sunday, September 3).

In addition to a full concert and movie series lineup, Prescott Park Arts Festival brings to the stage Disney’s Mary Poppins, all summer long presented by C&J Bus Lines, all summer long as the signature musical production this summer.

Running Thursday through Sunday, from June 23rd to August 20th, Mary Poppins will be bringing an enchanting mix of storytelling, unforgettable songs, breathtaking dance numbers and astonishing stagecraft to the park. This full-scale production will fill the waterfront air with the compelling and robust Mary Poppins song list including well known favorites such as A Spoon Full of Sugar, Super-califragil-istic-expi-ali-docious, Chim Chim Cheree, and The Perfect Nanny. Park goers can expect to experience a diverse cast of local youth and theater professionals, imaginative sets and a dynamic array of custom designed costumes.
