“The response we’ve been receiving for the acts we’ve announced has been incredible, and we definitely share people’s excitement for the summer ahead,” said festival president, Ben Anderson.
Launching the Festival’s forty-fourth season on Friday, June 15, will be the iconic singer-songwriter Ani DiFranco. A vocal activist, Ani DiFranco’s international career was made notable through acute songwriting and smart, in-your-face feminism.
Back by popular demand after mesmerizing the audience with their rich harmonies last season, The Ballroom Thieves return on Wednesday, June 27. Stylistically, Boston-based Ballroom Thieves journey through a captivating mélange of acoustic styles, blending folk conventions with modern hymnals, delta blues grit with rich harmonies, exploring the basic constructions of pop music while almost wholeheartedly rejecting its restrictions at the same time.
The last concert announcement was Lord Huron on Friday, August 3. Touring their brand-new album release, Lord Huron is known for its cinematic story songs and live performances. The folk-adjacent indie rock pioneers have made a name for themselves conjuring the mysticism of the American wilderness with eerie, echoing acoustic guitars, haunting vocal harmonies and philosophical lyrics.
“Table and blanket reservations for our first concert announcement, Band of Horses, sold out immediately,” said Anderson. “One of our newest membership perks is the first opportunity to make a reservation, and people are definitely taking advantage of that.”
“The beauty of Prescott Park is that it’s open and welcoming to everyone, even when these limited reserved spots are sold out,” continued Anderson.
Tables on the VIP Seating Deck are currently available to season members for reservations, in addition to the blanket reservations in front of the Wilcox Main Stage, and go on sale to the general public on April 30. Special discount pricing is available for Festival members. Space is limited.
Reservation information for all events can be found on the Festival website, www.prescottpark.org.
As with all Festival events, concerts are free and open to the public with a suggested $8-$10 donation.
Prescott Park Arts Festival is not limited to concert experiences, but also offers a musical theatre production of Seussical beginning on Friday June 22nd through August 19th, and a soon-to-be-released Monday Night Movie Series presented by Wentworth-Douglass at Pease.
Prescott Park Arts Festival, a non-profit organization, is the Seacoast’s premier outdoor performing arts venue, offering a uniquely accessible experience of high quality live theater and music -- no fixed admissions fees -- in an idyllic natural setting.
