Interwoven- Group Exhibition
PORTSMOUTH—Interwoven explores the intricate connections that bind people, cultures, histories, and ideas. Just as individual threads come together to form a unified fabric, this exhibition celebrates how shared experiences and personal narratives intertwine to shape our understanding of community, identity, and belonging.
The works on view span a range of media—woven textiles, mixed media, abstract painting, and more—all responding to the central theme of connection. Artists were invited to interpret "interwoven" both literally and metaphorically, resulting in an exhibition rich with visual and emotional texture.
Local Artist Solo Exhibitions
Play|Ground is a vibrant and eclectic group exhibition featuring new work by artists Kristy Cavaretta, Ashley Normal, Alicia Ethridge, and Meghan Samson. Anchored by a shared experience of motherhood, the four artists explore how the cycles of care, chaos, and resilience mirror the artistic process. From whimsical textures to layered imagery and unexpected juxtapositions, Play|Ground offers an engaging visual experience that invites viewers of all ages to reconnect with joy, curiosity, and wonder.
Back to the Old Country is a deeply personal photography exhibition by Carmine Angeloni. Through a series of evocative images captured in Italy, Angeloni reflects on his heritage, retracing the footsteps of his grandparents who emigrated from the Adriatic coastal cities of Ancona and Bari to the Italian-American neighborhoods of New Haven, Connecticut. The exhibition explores what it's like being rooted in two places at once—and the enduring connection that many descendants of immigrants feel toward their ancestral homeland. Angeloni’s lens captures both the quiet intimacy and the historical resonance of these landscapes, streets, and structures.
Seacoast Views, a solo exhibition of oil and acrylic paintings by Rita Pomerleau, offers an intimate and vibrant look at the landscapes of coastal New Hampshire and Maine, seen through the eyes of an artist who finds joy and meaning in the act of painting outdoors and in the studio.
Drawing inspiration from the colors, shadows, and textures of the natural world, Pomerleau paints both en plein air and from photographs she captures while exploring the region. Her works reflect a deep connection to place and a love for the ever-changing beauty of the Seacoast.
Art in Bloom, a solo exhibition by artist Ree Katrak, is a vibrant mixed media show that arrives just in time for the blossoming month of May—a time of year that mirrors the themes of renewal, exploration, and fresh perspective that drive Katrak’s creative practice. Blending painting, collage, and text-based installation, Art in Bloom offers a personal and evolving visual language that reflects Katrak’s artistic journey. Her work embraces change as a vital part of making art, shedding old assumptions and opening up to new ways of seeing and creating.
