    Winter Workshops for Adults
     
    New Hampshire Theatre Project announces an exciting array of adult professional development workshops and coaching opportunities this spring.  All levels are welcome.
     

    February 3- Chekhov Acting Technique

                Beginning with foundational work in movement and ease, the workshop will progress to work with bits of text and Chekhov’s “psychological gesture” – movement that expresses character and gesture in the most dynamic way. Learn to use the Chekhov technique to open up possibilities in the text, and then apply those explorations to make decisions about character and objective and what Chekhov called “the how” of acting. Peter Josephson is an accomplished actor and director who trains regularly with the International Michael Chekhov Association and theatreKapow, and teaches acting workshops in the Seacoast and Manchester areas.  Private coaching sessions are available following the workshop.

    February 9- Blurt, Blab, Write! ~ Storytelling Workshop

                Are you a writer who longs to transform your stories for the stage?  Are you a storyteller who wants to transform your performing magic to a book?  Storyteller Regi Carpenter shares her process of finding and refining oral and written stories through a combination of spontaneous, energizing and thought-provoking exercises that guarantee to help you find your creative voice. New York storyteller Regi Carpenter has been bringing songs and stories to audiences throughout the world for over twenty years, and has stories featured on Sirius Radio, Apple Seed Radio, The Moth, and NPR.

    February 10- Using Traditional Tales to Elicit Personal Stories & Coping Strategies ~ Storytelling Workshop

                Stories from the world’s folk and fairy tale tradition often mirror the issues of people who seek professional care: confusion, depression, addiction, grief, and a loss of identity. This workshop demonstrates how these tales also contain coping skills, resourcefulness and resiliency. For healers, tellers and compassionate human beingsAward winning storyteller Regi Carpenter has been bringing songs and stories to audiences throughout the world for over twenty years, and is also the founder of Stories with Spirit.  Private coaching sessions are available following the workshop.

    February 17- The Actor and Balance of Mind, Body & Breath Using Alexander Technique

                An introduction to some of the principles of Alexander Technique which integrate the actor’s understanding of the use of self, this workshop will focus on elements to access our fullest potential, our true self and deepening our connection to our instrument.  The Alexander Technique provides a greater understanding of how our own psycho-physical connection can relate to playing a role.  Participants will find greater sensory awareness and begin to recognize unwanted patterns of movement and behavior.   Elizabeth Daily is Professor of Acting and Voice/Speech at Plymouth State University, and is a member of Alexander Technique International  and Voice and Speech Trainers Association.  Private coaching sessions are available following the workshop.
