Newburyport Five Cents Savings Charitable Foundation continues support for parent education at Families First
PORTSMOUTH – Newburyport Five Cents Savings Bank Charitable Foundation recently awarded $5,000 to Families First Health & Support Center, the fifth consecutive grant the bank has made to Families First. The money will support parent education, which Families First provides both through classes and in a hands-on, playgroup setting.
Each week, year-round, Families First offers several parenting classes. For example, classes coming up in September include 1,2,3, Magic; Your Child’s Nutrition, The 3Rs of Special Education; Advocating for Your Children; and “When to Worry and What to Do,” a Q&A with psychologist and author Dawn Huebner. The grant from Newburyport Bank supports classes like these as well as parent-child playgroups and parent support groups.
“Families First’s parent education programs are vital for Seacoast families. Newburyport Five Cents Savings Bank and its Charitable Foundation have an unwavering commitment of collaborating with local organizations to assist the youth and their families in the communities we serve,” said Newburyport Five Cents Savings Bank president and CEO Janice Morse.
Families First Health and Support Center, the community health center serving the Seacoast region, provides health care, dental care and family programs. For information, call 603-422-8208 or visit www.FamiliesFirstSeacoast.org
