Northeast Credit Union Joins Community in Supporting Hunger Action Month

Portsmouth, NH – Northeast Credit Union (NECU) and their community members joined together in support of Hunger Action Month, an awareness initiative started by Feeding America®. For the month of September, NECU collected donations in all of their 20 branches throughout New Hampshire and Maine. The New Hampshire Food Bank and the Good Shepherd Food Bank of Maine worked with NECU to collect the items and to distribute to local food pantries.

“We are so thankful to Northeast Credit Union for their generous support of the New Hampshire Food Bank, and, in turn, the thousands of NH residents who do not know where their next meal will come from,” said Eileen Groll Liponis, executive director of the New Hampshire Food Bank. “Their branches collected a total of 662 pounds of food, which allows the Food Bank to provide 552 meals for our friends and neighbors facing hunger here in New Hampshire.”

“Not everyone realizes that food insecurity is a real problem in our local communities,” says Andrea Pruna, NECU SVP, Chief Marketing & Retail Officer “When we all work together, a little help from each of us can go a long way. We saw a great outpouring of support, and want to sincerely thank everyone who contributed.”
