Creator of Tranquilo Mat to discuss how she became an entrepreneur by following her passion and curiosity

The next New Hampshire High Tech Council(Council) TechWomen Power Breakfast on Wednesday, February 14 features Tranquilo, LLC CEO and Founder Melissa Gersin who will discuss how her work and passion led her to create her own technology and ultimately launch her own company. The Valentine’s Day Power Breakfast is from 7:30 to 9 am at the Manchester Country Club, 180 South River Road in Bedford.

“So many of us have innovative ideas, spurred by our passions and experiences, that we never pursue,” said Shannon Herrmann, TechWomen|TechGirls committee member. “Melissa’s story is one of confidence and conviction. She pursued her ideas and found success with her company. Her journey is an example to all that a good idea is always worth pursuing if it is supported by passion and persistence. Her product, the Tranquilo Mat, helps empower parents with the tools they need to soothe and create peaceful bonds with their babies.”

Gersin founded Tranquilo, LLC in 2015 after observing the struggles many parents face trying to soothe their fussy babies through her nursing experience at Tufts Medical Center, Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Mount Auburn Hospital. As a maternity nurse for more than six years, Gersin used her experience in obstetrics, including labor and delivery and mother and baby care, to create her prototype, the Tranquilo Mat, and launch her company without any background in engineering, business or product development. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Brandeis University in sociology and her Bachelor of Science in nursing from Simmons College.

The February TechWomen Power Breakfast featured sponsor is Devine Millimet. Tickets for the Power Breakfast are $10 for members of the Council and $20 for not-yet-members, and include breakfast.
