Southeast New Hampshire Habitat for Humanity (SENHH4H) was the recipient of the proceeds from the Proms for a Purpose annual event held this year at Cisco Brewers Portsmouth.

The event brought a fun twist allowing “grown-ups” to dress-up and dance to music while enjoying great food and libations. The funds raised will go to help build Habitat’s newest build in Dover. House recipients, the Turcotte family, are both veterans and will help to build their home through sweat equity hours and at closing will receive a zero percent interest mortgage.

Executive Director Marcie Bergan said, “we are so blessed to have partners like Carrie Alex, president of Platinum Productions, in our corner. Helping to make affordable housing a reality for those who might not otherwise have this opportunity. We are truly grateful for the many folks who came out to the event and enjoyed, while supporting our organization and our families. We look forward to the next Proms for a Purpose and hope you, too, will attend.”

One of Habitat’s partner families was present and a member spoke of her journey through the process of homeownership and what brought her and her children to Habitat. Angela Lauder would be receiving the keys to her new home in Rochester the next day.

Carrie Alex is deeply rooted in the Seacoast Community and is also a real estate agent for Keller Williams Coastal Realty, The Zoeller Realty Group, and former Mrs. NH America 2012, and owner/publisher of NH Wedding Magazine.

Alex said, “Giving back to the community makes me happy. I enjoy putting together events and organizing fundraisers. Seeing the smiles on people’s faces makes it that much more worthwhile, and knowing the facts behind what SENH Habitat for Humanity does, and me working in the Real Estate industry, makes this organization a priority for me to help support. I’m happy to continue hosting these events, allowing an event for adults to dress up and have fun, but for an amazing cause.”
