Temporary water shut downs along Islington Street Wednesday evening
PORTSMOUTH, NH – On Wednesday night, July 12th , between the hours of 9:15 p.m. and 12:15 a.m. (Thursday), the Portsmouth Water Department will be turning off the water mains in parts of the Islington Street area. The purpose of this shut down is to allow crews from Park Construction and the Portsmouth Water Department to abandon some sections of the old water mains in the vicinity of Islington Street and its neighboring side streets, spanning from Bridge Street to Cabot Street (see attached map). The water will be turned on as soon as the work is complete. When the water mains are turned back on, you may experience air or some discoloration. Please run your COLD water for a few minutes and it should clear, there is no danger associated with this color. If it does not clear, please call us. The Portsmouth Water Department apologizes for any inconveniences you may experience. If you have any questions or comments please call 427-1552.
