The Results of WOKQ’s 34thAnnual Chowder Festival

Portsmouth, NH- The people have spoken. The judges have scored. The winners of WOKQ’s 34th Annual Chowder Festival have been announced. The winning chowder of the People’s Choice and takers of The Golden Ladle goes to the River House Restaurant. The Judge’s Choice winning restaurant was the Martingale Wharf.

Brief rain wasn’t enough to stop hundreds of people from sampling chowder from local restaurants. On Saturday, June 2nd, the search for the best chowder drew in crowds from across the seacoast and beyond. Many restaurants came to claim this coveted title, all who donated their time and chowder to support this long-standing festival fundraiser.

“All of the restaurants are champions in our eyes for participating in this fundraiser that produces key revenue to help prepare for the season ahead,” said Ben Anderson, President of Prescott Park Arts Festival. “From all the restaurant staff to local volunteers, everyone involved worked hard to make sure people enjoyed the best chowder around, and to make the event a success.”

Live music from Nashville recording artist Cam entertained the crowd, courtesy of WOKQ. For the kids, there were carnival games, ocean touch tanks, and arts and crafts. The event also offered fresh lobster rolls and an oyster bar. There was something for everyone of all ages.

Other local restaurants worked hard to give people the best chowder, such as Two-Fifty Market, 110 Grill, Portstmouth Brewery and Nibblesworth. A full list of competing restaurants can be found @ www.prescottpark.org

The Golden Ladle can be seen over at the River House, 53 Bow Street in Portsmouth. The River House has two outside decks, a balcony, and dining rooms on two levels.
