Local herbalist and seasoned gardener, Helen Levitt, returns to Strawbery Banke for a program on how fermentation transforms foods and beverages in countless ways. Participants learn the history of fermentation and the many practical applications for introducing this time-tested technique into daily life. Through the ancient process, foods and drinks can be naturally preserved, increasing health benefits and enhancing flavors. Helen Leavitt is a trained herbalist who has worked with plants and people on the Seacoast for over a decade. She facilitates educational experiences that invite others to connect with the rhythms of the natural world and bring balance to their inner and outer environments. She offers gardening workshops, herbal classes, consultations, and product making demonstrations, wellness retreats, and edible and medicinal landscape design services. This program takes place in the TYCO Visitors Center lecture hall. Members $10. Non-members $15.
