For Halloween month, Welles’ horror movie: a chiaroscuro nightmare that underscores the “mania” in megalomania. As fast-beating as a terrified heart, Macbeth is a breathless downward slide into one man’s madness, and in the opinion of some critics, possibly the director’s most underrated film. Part of The Music Hall Film Club.
