Of the American Film Institute’s 100 top suspense/thriller movies of all time, this is the oldest, and the only farce: who’d have thought that a perilous climb up the side of a skyscraper could be so hilarious? The equal of Chaplin or Keaton, Harold Lloyd was thought by producer Hal Roach too handsome to do silent comedy—so he slapped on a pair of horn-rimmed glasses, and a stunt-loving comic star was born. Also featuring Lloyd’s wife-to-be, the adorable Mildred Davis.
