The evening kicks off with a family-style pasta dinner. Then, children will join Center naturalists to learn about bioluminescent creatures of the deep sea and engage in fun learning activities. Kids can dare to swim through the Hall of Bioluminescences, make a glowing sea creature of their imagination, and play Florescent Flashlight Tag, earning treats along the way. While the kids are engaged, adults will join will join NOAA Ocean Explorer Dr. Charles Mazel for an image-rich recount of his pioneering explorations in underwater florescence. You?ll learn about the phenomenon of bioluminescence and the find out why the phenomenon is still puzzling scientists today. You?ll also discover how researchers are putting the florescence of marine organisms to valuable use.
