Peter and John is based on Guy de Maupassant’s 19th century novel, Pierre et Jean, which is widely credited for changing the course of narrative fiction. Peter and John is set in 1872 Nantucket, after the demise of the whaling industry and in the wake of the still-reverberating Civil War. It tells the story of two brothers whose relationship strains when the younger one receives a strange inheritance and both brothers desire a mysterious young woman who arrives on their island. Starring Jacqueline Bisset.Q&A with director Jay Craven to follow.
