Gardens galore, yours for the viewing! The 31st Portsmouth Pocket Garden Tour lets you relish never-before-seen gardens tucked in a neighborhood 300 years old.
Tour the tree-lined streets of mid-town. Visit gardens with flowers, herbs, and vegetables mixed in a practical and pleasing whirl. Talk to Annie’s sheep and geese. Stroll through South Street Cemetery with graves dating back to the 1600s and marvel at the Big Trees. A relaxing 60-minute stroll finds you in good company with other garden lovers.
So come to Portsmouth, city of coffee shops and book bars, tugboats and tourists, and get a chance to poke around where people normally can’t go. The tour runs Friday evening, Sept. 11, 5 to 8 p.m., and Saturday, Sept. 12, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 on the day of tour.
