An emotional, drama-packed afternoon including that classic tale of seduction and love, Carmen. This opera, featuring unexpected twists of fate and pining lovers, does not end well. It’s opera, after all. And so, too, with the Sea Interludes from Peter Grimes, once again driving heroes to insanity. Before local vocal stars and the winners of the youth vocal competition take to the stage, Peter Grimes will ponder his fate, asking, appropriately for our seaport: “What harbor can embrace terrors and tragedies?”
Concert starts at 3 PM, 2 PM pre-concert discussion
PROGRAM
“Night at the Opera”
Bizet, Carmen
Britten, Peter Grimes
and Arias from the winners of the vocal solo competition
