Provide high level instruction to law enforcement, and responsible citizens. Instructor II teaches intermediate and advanced level classes, assist with instructor level courses and must be at the top of their teaching, communication and individual skills. Mentors full and part time instructors as program managers. Provides or arranges for specific administrative or technical training necessary for others to successfully teach their assigned courses. Ability to develop and revise course content and training material, to conduct course related research, and to maintain awareness of current practices in the firearms and tactics area.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
*Excellent public speaking abilities and presentation skills
*Experience working with students from a diverse background, such as civilian, law enforcement and military.
*Expert knowledge of weapons and tactics and the proper handling and use of a wide variety of firearms including handguns and rifles.
*Expert knowledge of classroom and practical exercise firearms training and instructional methods, practices and procedures.
*Expert knowledge of firearms safety practices and procedures.
*Ability to think quickly to resolve conflicts while using a high degree of discretion and judgement when incorporating life experience into active training programs.
*Ability to adapt training and instructional materials to meet varying skill and knowledge level of students.
*Ability to participate in the planning, organization, implementation and follow through of firearms training programs.
*Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and the ability to review and edit work products.
*Position requires considerable physical exertion while demonstrating firearms usage and a variety of tactical techniques and methods.
*Duties will require exposure to varying climate and environmental conditions both extreme cold and warm weather conditions for extended periods of time and /or exposure to high levels of noise and hazardous substance.
*Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally as needed to meet operational commitments.
*Instructors that speak a second language or are bilingual are encouraged to apply.
Education and/or Experience:
*Must have a minimum of 10 years of police or military, firearms instructor level experience.
*Competent firearms skill.
*Outgoing and humble demeanor.
*Must be able to travel both domestically and internationally when feasibly possible.
*Expert presentation skills and the ability to speak in public
*Excellent written and verbal communication skills
*Flexible, adaptable, and able to work under pressure
*High attention to detail and the ability to multitask
*Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and the ability to accurately perform tasks in all of the following: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
*Able to lift up to 40 pounds
*Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) which is required in designated areas.
