  • A Dickens Christmas Carol presented in York, Maine

    Say no to "bah humbug" and join the York Recreation Department as it presents its 9th annual production of the Christmas classic A Dickens Christmas Carol, adapted and directed by George Hosker Bouley. Performances will be presented Friday, Dec. 7 at 7pm, Saturday, Dec. 8 at 2 p.m.  and 7 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 9 at 2p.m. at the York Community Auditorium, 1 Robert Stevens Drive, York, Maine.     A Dickens of a Christmas Carol, which has sold-out all shows the previous eight years, is back with a fresh new look, new faces and a new enthusiasm that is infectious! For the first time ever this show will be presented in the towns brand new auditorium! More than 65 children and residents are involved in this holiday production that is filled with music, dancing and original songs. All of your favorite memories will be played out on stage including Ebenezer Scrooge’s redemption once he is visited by three ghosts, the Victorian splendor of the period and the immortal lines that have lasted through centuries of memories. This experience is one for the whole family to enjoy as the community event will feature performers both young and old, from the experienced to the novice.     Writer, director and choreographer George Hosker-Bouley has staged more than 25 original productions not to mention the more than 40 full scale musicals he produced as the Executive/Artistic Director of the Prescott Park Arts Festival and CARPE DIEM Inc. Hosker-Bouley also performs and runs the Portsmouth Underbelly Tour, which this past fall presented the sold-out Underbelly Unplugged and he currently teaches improvisational theater throughout New England. He is no stranger to this holiday season as his A Dickens of a Christmas will celebrate its 14th year as the show returns to the Old Salt, Lafayette Road, Hampton on Dec. 10 and 11,12 andf 13.
