  • Call for Artists for the 16th Annual Art of Great Bay Artist Submissions due by Feb. 5

GREENLAND – The Great Bay Stewards invites artists to submit their work for inclusion in the 16th Annual Art of Great Bay, scheduled for April 3 - 5, 2020. The Great Bay Stewards will consider a wide-variety of art forms for inclusion in the art show, including paintings, sculpture, drawings, photography, jewelry, pottery, textiles, and other small art items.

The theme of the show is Art Inspired by New England, to include works celebrating the culture, architecture, agriculture and recreation of the region. All items in the show must be available for sale. Artists interested in participating should send an email to art.show@greatbaystewards.org with two to three images of their work, including the medium used, by Feb. 5, 2020. “We look forward to putting on this incredible show every year, and are delighted to be in our 16th year,” says Allison Knab, executive director of the Great Bay Stewards. “New this year we have broadened our theme to truly incorporate all depictions of life in New England, from its marshes to its homes to its farms and fields. We are excited to see the works submitted and look forward to sharing them with the public in April.”

The Art of Great Bay, a major fundraiser for the Great Bay Stewards, the friends group for the Great Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve, opens with a public reception with the artists on Friday, April 3rd from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and continues on Saturday and Sunday, April 4 – 5, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. More than 50 artists from all mediums typically participate in the show and sale. The event is free and open to the public.

Thirty percent of the sales support the Steward's mission of education and conservation in the Great Bay Estuary. While at the exhibit, visitors can also walk the grounds of the Great Bay Discovery Center and enjoy the boardwalk that leads out to beautiful views of Great Bay.
