  • SBDC Joins the Nation in Celebrating Our Veterans

    Championing Veteran-Owned Small Businesses

Thank you to the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces. SBDC celebrates you and your service. We are here to support you in your business ventures, whether you already own a business or are just starting one.

Did you know that nearly one in ten small businesses in the U.S. is owned by a veteran? Please join us in celebrating, connecting and empowering service members, veterans, National Guard and Reserve members, and military spouses this Veterans Day.

Visit covid-sb.org to discover resources that might be particularly useful for veterans who currently own or aspire to start a small business.

    SBDC Veteran Client Stories

    National Flight Simulator

As a pilot for more than 30 years, Steve Cunningham knows all too well what it feels like to be a mile high and cruising blissfully among the clouds. As an instructor and the owner of National Flight Simulator (NFS) in Manchester, he also knows the importance of being prepared for unexpected turbulence.

With the help of the NH SBDC, Steve was able to navigate the rough weather COVID-19 has brought and keep his business operating during a turbulent time for many small businesses, especially in the airline industry. “It was life-saving,” Steve says of the guidance provided by Andrea O’Brien, an advisor and director of the SBDC’s Business Sustainability Program. “We would have been out of business.” Read more about Steve's story and his work with NH SBDC.

College H.U.N.K.S. Hauling Junk & Moving

Since early spring, many parts of our lives changed dramatically “in the middle of a pandemic,” but for most of us, starting a major business was not one of those changes. Grant Broom did just that, launching College H.U.N.K.S. Hauling Junk & Moving, based out of Derry, NH, just as the state was under lockdown orders from the governor. H.U.N.K.S, stands for Honest, Uniformed, Nice, Knowledgeable Service, Broom explains, and the pandemic turned out to be a boon to his first few months in business. Read more about Grant's story and his work with NH SBDC.
