    Strawbery Banke 2021 Summer Camp Offerings
    Nonmember registration is NOW OPEN!

    Summer camps return for onsite offerings at Strawbery Banke Museum for the summer of 2021.

    The protocols for summer camp are consistent with Strawbery Banke Museum COVID-19 precautions. Additional Summer Camp COVID-19 precautions include mandatory temperature checks of staff and participants, limited capacities, and all activities occurring outdoors. 

    It is expected that summer camps will be in high demand at that camp sessions will fill quickly. Click here to view full descriptions of camps and to register. 

    • Anchors Aweigh - FULL
    • June 28–July 2, 2021, 9 AM–3 PM
    • Colonial DIY
      July 12–July 16, 2021, 9:30 AM–2:30 PM
      Discover how people made things without factories and modern technology. Use the tools and materials from long ago to create fabric, pottery, birch bark toys, and leatherwork. Members $240; Nonmembers $290.

    • History Alive
      July 19–July 23, 2021, 9:30 AM–2:30 PM
      Compare and contrast life in different eras by becoming a character and wearing a costume from a different time period each day. Engage in games and activities in period gardens and buildings at Strawbery Banke. Members $240; Nonmembers $290

    • All Hands on Deck
      June 28–July 2, 2021, 9 AM–3 PM
      Learn about the maritime history of the Piscataqua River region both aboard the Gundalow Piscataqua and through hands-on activities, crafts, and games onshore. Strawbery Banke & Gundalow Company Members $290; Nonmembers $340.
    • History in Play: Growing Up Colonial
      July 19–July 23, 2021, 9:30 AM–2:30 PM
      Experience life in the Colonial era by dressing in costumes and using reproduction toys and tools in the historical setting of Strawbery Banke Museum. Develop improvisation and acting techniques roleplaying in the historic gardens and landscapes as well as outside of the historic houses. Cost: Members $240; Nonmembers $290.

    • Traditional Trades
      July 26–July 30, 2021, 9:30 AM–2:30 PM
      Step into the shoes of an 18-century apprentice and learn numerous Colonial trades. Campers are immersed in Colonial America as they engage in a variety of hands-on activities and authentic experiences. Activities include woodworking, fabric and basket weaving, bookbinding, pottery making, and more. Cost: Members $240; Nonmembers $290.

    • Archaeology Adventure
      August 2–August 6, 2021, 9:30 AM–2:30 PM
      Undercover secrets of the past left behind by people from long ago. Campers learn the basics of archaeological investigation as they take part in a realistic simulated excavation. Discover how to use the tools and equipment that archaeologists use in the field. Cost: Members $240; Nonmembers $290.

    • Jr. Roleplayers: The Modern Age (1908-1955)
      July 5-July 16, 2021, 9:30-2:30 PM
      Times may change but one thing remains constant -- adolescents have always played a part in history. In this session, Jr. Roleplayers take on the roles of adolescents growing up in the first half of the 20th-century. Participants may portray an immigrant’s child growing up in Puddle Dock or a teen volunteering on the World War II home front. Cost: Members $480; Nonmembers $580.
    • Jr. Roleplayers: The New Republic (1777-1818)
      July 26-August 6, 2021, 9:30-2:30 PM
      Times may change but one thing remains constant -- adolescents have always played a part in history. Teens of today make the past come to life by becoming a historic roleplayer and using the museum’s houses and grounds as a stage. Participants learn theatrical techniques, dress in full costume, use old-fashioned tools and materials, and engage in historical research methods to learn how to portray a person from another time. Cost: Members $480; Nonmembers $580.

    • Jr. Archaeology
      August 9-August 13, 2021, 9:30-2:30 PM
      Participants work with Alexandra Martin, Strawbery Banke Archaeologist, to learn the techniques for mapping and excavating a real archaeological site. During the week, the group spends time working with archaeological collection cleaning, investigating, and recording artifacts from centuries past. Cost: Members $240; Nonmembers $290.
