How to Find and Practice Courage

hbr.org — One of my former students, the CEO of a large, diversified industrial company recently sent me an email to say that he believed “the pandemic was the moment to show the people in the company that management really cared.”

Through May 15, we hope you will #LEADwithLoyalty

This May, we're asking you to #LEADwithLoyalty.

    What does that hashtag mean?

It means-- the small business or restaurant that was there for your daughter's softball team, or the restaurant that greeted you every Friday with more warmth than just the hot meal -- we want you to show that they matter.

Buy a gift card—it doesn't have to be a grand sum (but it could be!)

Take a photo of that gift card. If not in front of the business, then in your hand, on your mantle, across your heart. Send photo(s) to Jennifer@PortsmouthCollaborative.org.

Join us Friday afternoon for Chamber Chat LIVE: Mental Health Matters

Join us through Zoom Video Conferencing for interactive meetings with Chamber Collaborative President Valerie Rochon, each Friday at 1 p.m. Local, state, and regional guests will join weekly so we can provide updates, answer questions, and hear concerns. Let us know who YOU want to hear from each week.

Our focus for May 15 will be on mental health. We will feature leaders from local agencies sharing how you might address issues of pandemic anxiety among your staff and your children as well as resources available to you.

As guests we have Rebecca Throop, MBA, Vice President, Community Relations at Seacoast Mental Health Center and Christine Burke, Wellness Coordinator for the Portsmouth School District. Hosting the May 15 session will be Ben VanCamp, Vice President at the Chamber Collaborative.

    See you Friday!

Open-air food market started for those recently laid off

In response to the COVID-19 crisis, on April 23 Gather began a weekly outdoor market at the Seacoast Community Campus, 100 Campus Drive, at the parking lot near the tennis courts, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The intent open-air markets are intended to reach individuals and families adversely impacted by COVID-19 due to lay off, changes in income/costs related to COVID-19 such as reliance on unemployment, shorter working hours or the current stay at home order. For many people, this may be the first and only time in their lives they make use of our services. We want families to feel welcome and use our services to help reduce the stress of this very difficult time.
