    Third Grade Portsmouth History Program
    The Great Fires

An engaged audience of chatty and curious nine- and ten-year-olds is what makes teaching Portsmouth history so rewarding for Claire Spollen, Portsmouth Historical Society's Museum Education Coordinator. Despite the challenges brought on by remote learning, Spollen, also known by the kids as "The History Lady", has persevered to make sure Portsmouth's 3rd grade students end the school year as educated citizens! Using video, Spollen brings her lessons to this new classroom, keeping the past alive in this "virtual" world!
Claire Spollen leads a group of 3rd graders on a tour of the John Paul Jones Historic House in June of 2018.
