  • Players' Ring theater hires managing director whose career began at Theatre by the Sea

Introducing the Managing Director of the Players' Ring, Matthew Parent
Less than 12 months after hiring Production Manager Margherita as our first paid employee, the Players' Ring is now thrilled to welcome Matthew Parent to the very strategic position of Managing Director.
Matthew Parent brings both an artistic and administrative background to the Players' Ring. His professional career began next door at Theatre by the Sea where he served as an Equity Stage Manger. New Hampshire audiences may remember him as the Producing Artistic Director of The American Stage Festival, where he produced and/or directed over 70 professional productions. Later, Mr. Parent's career took him to New York, where he worked as a consultant and production accountant both off and on the great white way in many noteworthy and long-running Broadway shows.
We are confident that Mr. Parent will greatly contribute to the growth and sustainability of our beloved Ring, and we wish him all the best in this challenging and exciting endeavour.

The playwrights were so prolific that they ended up writing two different, yet interconnected tales. Each writer had only 24 hours to create one scene.
We start on Saturday, August 1, at 10am with "The Red Door," read by professional actors!
Want to tune in? Just head over to our Facebook on Aug. 1 at 10AM!
Since 1992, our mission has been to nurture the artistic community by offering an affordable space and caring support to local production companies.
For the past 28 years, dozens of producers, directors, actors and theatre mavens have chosen the Ring as their home, as a safe place to present and premiere their daring works.
Without them, the Ring would not exist, plain and simple.
So, we have decided to reach out to them, ask them some questions, find some cool pictures, and show them off. Because we are so very proud of them.
Meet the Players was launched yesterday, with our first very special guest.
    Roland Goodbody
PR: How many years have you been involved with the Ring?
RG: I have been involved in productions at the Ring since 1993, so for 27 years. The first production I was in was an original script by local playwright Ken Butler (who, coincidentally, I was in touch with just today). It was called 'Cannibals' and was directed by Gary Newton.
PR: Favorite show you've been part of?
RG: That's a really tough one because there have been so many over the years.
I think the show I'm proudest of - because I put so much of myself into it: I chose it, produced it, directed it and did pretty much all the behind the scenes stuff for it - is David Lindsay Abaire's 'Good People' which was a Generic Theater production back in 2017.
As we get closer and closer to reopening, we will be making important investments to help keep our patrons safe. We are grateful for your continued love and support!
