The New Hampshire Insurance Department (NHID) will host its annual hearing on health insurance premium rates on Friday, Oct. 27, 2023. The opening reception begins at 8:30 a.m. and the program will begin at 9 a.m. and conclude at 1 p.m.
The hearing will be held both in person at UNH Law School in Concord and online via webinar. The event is open to the public.
According to state law, the Insurance Commissioner "shall hold an annual public hearing concerning premium rates in the health insurance market and the factors, including health care costs and cost trends that have contributed to rate increases during the prior year." This year’s public hearing is based on 2022 data.
At the conclusion of its report on premium rates and health care cost drivers, the NHID will host a symposium exploring the potential impact of health care price transparency in the New Hampshire and nationally. The panel discussion features national leaders in health economics and price transparency Marilyn Bartlett CPA, Zach Brown, Ph.D., and Chris Whaley, Ph.D.
