Charlotte Ladd Coues grew up in the Moffatt-Ladd House and published a Jan. 1, 1851 article in the NH Gazette. She wrote about the new holiday traditions starting to take hold in New England at the time.
This article will be used as inspiration to recreate some of the traditions that we all now take for granted: decorating the Christmas tree, hanging stockings by the fireplace, reading stories about Santa Claus, and more!
Join us as costumed interpreters portray members of the Ladd family and share their preparations for the holiday season!
Rooms of the first floor will be decorated, food will be prepped in the kitchen, readings of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas will be performed throughout the event. Enjoy crafts and refreshments, and if we're lucky - a visit from Santa Claus himself!
Join us Nov. 19 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for this new, festive program to kick off the holiday season!
Tickets are $10/adult, $5 per child (6-18), families of 4+ just $25, and kids 5 and under are free!
