Con Tutti sings in the season, wassailing, singing and celebrating! The men and women of Con Tutti will share their solstice concert, “Here We Come A’Wassailing!” on Dec. 2, at 7:30 p.m. at South Church, 292 State St. in Portsmouth.
“We’ll be singing a great mix of songs from Ireland, France, Ukraine, England, Wales, and Italy! Christmas Spirituals, Israeli songs of peace, Gospel and Shape note tunes! And the audience will find out what those rough and tumble ‘Wren Boys’ are up to with the Druid solstice tale of how to bring back the sun!” exclaims Director, Joanne Connolly. “Oh, and this year we’ll be singing a very sweet Sinead O’Connor song, beautiful and so poignant! Many favorite carols will be sung along with the lesser known and newly-favorite ones! Surprises are in store, for the audience, those Wren Boys, and the Villagers of our story!”
Tony Lee will be on hand as the storyteller. Jim Prendergast on guitar, Katie McNally on fiddle, and Jesse Williams on upright bass will be there to pump up the music from the British Isles!
