FAMILY Community Picnic in the Park
Description
Community Picnic in the Park on Sunday, September 8, 2024 Hosted by the City Recreation Department in partnership with Prescott Park Arts Festival from 11 am to 2 pm. The event is free and open to all Portsmouth residents and beyond! Live music, lawn games and food available for purchase from The Prop. People are encouraged to bring their own picnics (no alcoholic beverages), lawn chairs, blankets – and community spirit. The Recreation Department invites you to “Join the fun!” and bring your most creative/fun picnic set up, saying, “Don't spend money, use what you have!” “Last year, the Portsmouth NH 400th, Inc. sponsored Great Portsmouth NH 400 Community Picnic was such a hit, we decided to try to make a community day that focuses on our residents an annual event,” said Todd Henley, Recreation Director. “Scheduled for the weekend after Labor Day, this is a sort of after-party for residents to get together to celebrate as another great summer season comes to an end and thanks to Prescott Park Arts Festival for keeping The Prop and stage open past their regular season to make this event possible.” Ride your bike to the park for the Community Picnic, fill out a raffle entry at the merch booth, and be entered to win a $3,000 gift certificate at Papa Wheelies Bicycle Shop. Raffle has been running at the Arts Festival all summer long (feel free to mention that part or not), and the winner will be pulled at the picnic. Winner need not be present to win.
