Join Friends of Portsmouth Harbor Lighthouses on Saturday, June 4, for a June Jamboree at the Kittery Lions Club. The event will feature a silent auction, free pizza, and some great entertainment! This event is a fundraiser for a much needed new walkway at Portsmouth Harbor Lighthouse. The existing 84-foot walkway that enables visitors to walk from the shore to the lighthouse was built in 2006, and it’s taken a beating in storms and high tides. In order to keep providing safe access for visitors and volunteers, we need to have it rebuilt for about $35,000. The doors will open at 1 p.m. Come on in and have some pizza and refreshments! The entertainment will begin at 2 p.m. with June and the Honey Badgers, a musical group focused on fun, laughter and making the most out of life. At 3:30 p.m. we’ll enjoy a performance by the students of the McDonough–Grimes Irish Dance of Dover, NH. Instructed by John Grimes of Riverdance, a professional Irish step dancer, this school has produced dancers who have qualified for regionals, nationals, and world championships. At the event you’ll also be able to bid on silent auction items including lighthouse replicas, original art, restaurant gift certificates, signed books, and more.
