At this drop-in workshop, beginners of all ages learn the basics of sculpting with wax. While Madame Tussaud is the name most associated with wax sculpture, many eighteenth- and nineteenth-century sculptors used wax for bas-reliefs, fruit and flower studies, and figures. Patience Wright, an American-born sculptor who preceded Tussaud by thirty years, was suspected of supporting the American Revolution by smuggling intelligence within her wax figures.
