In 2012, Cuban pianist Omar Sosa and Senegalese kora master Seckou Keita met in London, forming an immediate musical connection. Their shared spiritual and cultural roots led to the creation of their debut album Transparent Water in 2017, praised for its rhapsodic and spiritual qualities. Both artists come from rich musical legacies: Omar, a former percussionist turned pianist, has collaborated with numerous global artists and released over 40 albums, while Seckou, a descendant of Mali’s royal Keita family, has been honored as BBC Radio 2 Folk Musician of the Year and has worked with top artists in world music. Their second album, Suba (2021), celebrates hope, unity, and peace, reflecting their deepening musical bond after years of touring together. Both artists remain rooted in their spiritual traditions, blending diverse influences with an open-hearted, collaborative spirit.
