The PMAC faculty will commemorate the passing of a 20th Century icon in this year’s installment of Jazz Night. Rock legend David Bowie was never one to shy away from jazz. He cited Charlie “Bird” Parker as one of his early influences, and the saxophone played a central role in much of his music. Over the years he worked with many jazz musicians including Lenny Picket, David Sanborn and Mike Garson. For his final album, released in January 2016, just days before his passing, Bowie collaborated with a quintet of young jazz artists, among the best in NYC today. For this concert, the PMAC jazz faculty will curate a unique mix of their favorite Bowie tunes, in special jazz arrangements for the occasion. Don’t miss this one-time event celebrating the life and music of David Bowie!
