The Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra’s spring concert is moving and evocative. The program carries listeners from the romantic era into the twentieth century with great emotionality, as well as a performance by artist in Residence Billy Butler. This concert includes Vaughn William’s Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis, Prokofiev’s powerfully vibrant Violin Concerto no. 2, performed by the award-winning Sarita Uranovsky, and Brahms’s symphony no. 4 in E minor, a favorite for centuries famous for its yearning, tragic emotionality. This concert is a journey for the heart and soul.
