Star Island Spring Fundraiser! After visiting Star Island in the balmy months of summer, it stays in our hearts. In winter, we may think of Star again, imagining the cold tempests that batter her shores. Winter caretaker Alexandra de Steiguer has been in residence there for nineteen years, living through each storm and long, dark night, by day capturing the bare essence of a remote place in photographs. A two-time Artists Fellow at the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts, Alexandra hand-prints her photographs in a traditional darkroom. Her work has been exhibited in galleries throughout New England and was recently acquired for the permanent collections of the North Carolina Museum of Art and the Ogunquit Museum of American Art. Hear about her experience and view some of her work at this special event.
