SJS Lecture: The Intersection of Impr...
Description
In this live Zoom presentation sponsored by the Seacoast Jazz Society as part of their Spring 2023 Lecture Series, you will have an opportunity—whether you are a music lover or musician— to hear Brian’s perspectives and various secrets about the intersection between improvisation, composition, and global rhythms.
Adler will spotlight some key players and examples from the jazz drummer lineage, breaking down practices that can inspire new rhythmic possibilities. A multidisciplinary drummer, percussionist, composer, and educator, Adler has an expertise in jazz and global rhythms.
He has performed in caves, forests and adjacent glacial ice fields as well as Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center, Jazz Standard, Roulette, Rubin Museum and The Stone. He has been recorded on over 40 albums including his solo works, "For a Gallery on the Moon" (Chant Records, 2020) and "Fourth Dimension" (Chant Records, 2019).
This event is one of many offered throughout the year by the Seacoast Jazz Society, a 501(c)(3) NH nonprofit founded in 1990 to foster jazz education and appreciation; community outreach; support of local musicians, scholarships for young artists; and performances and events.
