Billy Butler presents his newest musical,The Brechtones at The Players' Ring The Brechtones is about an alcoholic musician on the last gig of life backing up a “beat-night” at a bar run by death himself. When a young poet takes the stage and reveals in front of everyone that she is his long lost daughter, he descends into a haze of drugs and booze. The play is theatre, beat-poetry, and music with a mix of blues, jazz, and a little bit of vaudeville. It is a commentary on dysfunction, depression, addiction, and eSxcess. Although it is a scripted piece, there is an element of improvisation, both musically and verbally. Every night is a unique show because each performance features guest poets who sign up for a spot reading their own work with the live band improvising behind them. Directed by Jennifer Henry Towle. Featuring a Bruce Pingree as Death, a live five piece band, and introducing Haley DeValliere as Penny. facebook.com/thebrechtones About the Players’ Ring: Since 1992, the mission of The Players’ Ring has been to promote the efforts of local artists through the production of original works, while providing an affordable theatre space to local production companies. “The Ring” provides an environment where artists To make your reservation visit playersring.org or call 603-436-8123
