This collaboration between artist and composer is both a celebration of the opening night of the exhibition and a multi-sensory experience not to be missed! Be sure to also explore The Lady of the Woods exhibit in the Gallery. You are welcome to arrive at 3S early or visit the Gallery after the show. ---- About The Lady of the Woods: An unfamiliar character, the Lady is an embodiment of death, like her brother. While the Grim Reaper's domain is open space, she, instead, presides over the woods. Massaro’s story finds the siblings in the present day: their realms are shrinking, threatened by urban sprawl, climate change, and the unfettered destruction of their ecosystems. Spurred by the kidnapping of an ally, the siblings join forces in a quest to rescue him and save themselves. It's a quest they discover is even bigger than they realized. Massaro’s medium, charcoal—often applied to torn craft paper—brings to mind gravestone rubbings, while the dark but heroic themes, limited palette, and her free style nod to comic books, graphic novels, and fantasy art. Jim Rioux's Crooked Orchestra features: Jim Rioux, composer, on piano and guitar; Guy Capecelatro III on guitar; Jonathan Blakeselee on upright bass; Josh Shaheen and Ted Ehlers on synthesizers; Pete Duschene on saw and percussion; and Chris Greiner on drums. ---- *This is a reduced capacity event. 3S Artspace requires proof of vaccination, or proof of a negative PCR COVID test within 72 hours of the event, for entry into events inside the Performance Space.
