Description
PORTSMOUTH, NH: Valerie's Gallery in Portsmouth, NH will be a participating in the city’s upcoming ArtWalk by featuring a meet and greet event with local artist Marsha Zavez. The event will take place on Friday, May 5 from 5-8 pm at the gallery, located at 117 Market Street in Portsmouth, NH. Marsha is an oil and acrylic painter as well as a middle school art and drama teacher. "Her work has such energy, color and a little bit of whimsy and lightness to it." says Valerie Stainton, gallery owner "I love to paint. There's something about taking a blank canvas or board and transforming it into an image that makes me happy. It's really as simple as that for me. Sometimes I choose to paint something because of the memory it evokes. Other times, I just can’t resist the color, texture, light, or smile-inducing quality of the subject. In both my oil and acrylic works, texture plays a large part, and I use brushes, palette knives and scrapers to create a lush feel with the paint. I find beauty in the goings-on around me. Whether it’s a gull hanging out at the ocean, my dog sleeping in the yard, the sun shining just right on a house off the road, surfers enjoying the waves, or the scrumptious yellows of a lemon. I paint my world." About Valerie’s Gallery - Valerie's Gallery is a art gallery and fine craft shop with two locations, in Portsmouth, NH and Newburyport, MA.
