  • Arts in Reach's New Arts Center Closer to Reality - Thanks to Jay McSharry & JGroup Hospitality’s Leadership Gift of $50,000

PORTSMOUTHArts In Reach (AIR) is proud to announce that JGroup Hospitality, led by renowned restaurateur Jay McSharry, has made a transformative $50,000 investment in AIR through the New Hampshire Community Development Finance Authority (CDFA) Tax Credit Program.

This significant contribution marks the first tax credit purchase for AIR’s new facility project, which will provide a permanent space for empowering local teens through the arts.

Since its founding in 1997, AIR has been a lifeline for countless teens across New Hampshire, offering free, trauma-informed arts and mentoring programs that foster confidence, resilience, and essential life skills. Serving girls and gender-expansive youth ages 11-18, AIR creates inclusive, creative spaces where teens can express themselves, heal, and thrive. The new community arts center in Durham, will offer a consistent and safe environment, enabling AIR to expand its reach and meet increasing demand.

McSharry, a community leader and owner of acclaimed Seacoast establishments such as Jumpin’ Jay’s Fish Café, Moxy, Vida Cantina, and The Franklin, is no stranger to impactful investments.

"We’re honored to support Arts In Reach with this $50,000 contribution," said McSharry. "The work AIR does is transformative for our youth and our community, and we are excited to help create a space where teens can thrive and express themselves."

The NHCDFA Tax Credit Program allows businesses to invest in vital community projects while receiving a 75% state tax credit against the Business Profits Tax, Business Enterprise Tax, or Insurance Premium Tax. The program also provides businesses with the potential for additional federal and state charitable deductions.

"Jay McSharry and JGroup Hospitality’s leadership gift of $50,000 demonstrates a deep commitment to empowering New Hampshire’s youth and strengthening our community," said Jennifer Minicucci, executive director of AIR. "This investment brings us closer to making our new arts center a reality and sets a powerful example of how businesses can leverage the tax credit program to create meaningful change."
