PORTSMOUTH—The Portsmouth Recreation Department invites you to participate in the City of Portsmouth’s 5th annual TREE OF LOVE by decorating a heart to hang on the tree or by helping to hang the hearts (or both).

TREE OF LOVE

This event is Portsmouth’s annual tribute to the love we have for our community! Let’s show ourselves, each other, and our community some love as we decorate the tree in Market Square with hearts.

INSTRUCTIONS

Valentines can be dropped off or mailed to Community Campus, 100 Campus Drive, Portsmouth. Or the Senior Activity Center, Connie Bean, Indoor Pool and Spinnaker Point.

Hearts may include logo, positive words, names of loved ones, thank yous, prayers, good vibes, or just decorated for the season. We ask that politics be left out of this project. Be as creative as you’d like. Feel free to use our template or a different design altogether. Everyone is welcome to participate!

· Hearts are available to the public online, at the Senior Activity Center or at Community Campus as of Jan. 10. Templates included here, if needed.

· Deadline for public & businesses to submit hearts is Monday, Feb. 10

· Hearts hung on the tree between Feb. 12 and Feb. 14

COME HANG YOUR HEARTS WITH US!

· Friday, Feb. 14, 2025 at 10 a.m. Snow or shine.

Recreation staff will be on site to hang the hearts that have been submitted leading up to the event. Prior to the event, hearts will have been laminated, hole-punched, and adorned with a string. Once at the tree, we zip-tie the hearts to the branches to keep them from blowing away.

If you get us your heart ahead of time, we will get it ready. Or bring it on the 14th and we’ll just hang it.
