PORTSMOUTH – No Brain Is The Same, a newly established 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is on a mission to bridge the gap in understanding between neurodivergent and neurotypical individuals. Through engaging, age-appropriate education, the organization teaches children, families, and communities about what it means to be neurodivergent—fostering empathy, compassion, and inclusion in schools and beyond.
At the heart of No Brain Is The Same’s work is addressing the double empathy problem, a concept that highlights the mutual misunderstanding between neurodivergent and neurotypical individuals. The organization strives to solve this by educating both neurodivergent kids about the neurotypical world and neurotypical kids about the neurodivergent world—ensuring that understanding flows both ways.
“Our goal is to empower neurodivergent kids so they can thrive in the neurotypical world while also helping neurotypical individuals better understand and appreciate the unique strengths of neurodivergent minds,” said Carla Cole, executive director. “When we foster empathy from both sides, we create truly inclusive communities.”
No Brain Is The Same offers school assemblies, workshops, and community events designed to create more accepting spaces for neurodivergent individuals. Leading these efforts is the organization’s signature speaker, Megg Thompson (@meggthompsonbehavior), a dynamic behavior specialist with over 20 years of experience working with neurodivergent children and families. Megg’s engaging and relatable approach captivates audiences, leaving a lasting impact on students, teachers, and parents alike.
