October 2023 - Pease Golf Course
Congratulations to Pease Golf Course on its selection as the Small But MIGHTY Business of the Month for October 2023.The origins of Pease Golf Course trace back to 1901 when the land was purchased from a dairy farm to create the original top 9 holes. In 1956 the land was acquired by the United States Air Force and the course was known as the Pease Air Force Base Golf Course. That history lives on as Pease is the only course in the area where you can watch your dive alongside KC46 refueling jets and occasional celebrity aircraft such as the Patriots Jet, the Thunderbirds, the Blue Angles, Antonov Cargo Carriers and even Air Force One.

There are also life-changing camp experiences through Camp Gundalow, for which they provide as many scholarships as possible.

Congratulations to The Black Heritage Trail of New Hampshire on their section as our Small But MIGHTY Business of the Month for February 2022!The Black Heritage Trail of New Hampshire promotes awareness and appreciation of African American history and life in order to build more inclusive communities today.
The organization has a robust program: Community dialogues... tours... conferences... and celebrations. One of their most popular offerings is the Elinor Williams Hooker Tea Talks that take place in February. These bring individuals and scholars to talk about subjects that are both grounded in history, and contemporary issues we're facing here in New Hampshire and beyond.
It is important to recognize that this organization is not Portsmouth-centric it's a statewide organization. They are a growing organization that collaborates in a big way - with historical societies, schools, businesses, and different community organizations.

December 2021 - Germeroth Consulting + Creative
Looking at Lee Germeroth, you might think he's quite serious. And he is: He's seriously competent and knowledgable about web design, SEO and email as part of his career--head of Germeroth Consulting + Creative.
And, having known Lee for most of the five years or so he's been with the Chamber Collaborative of Greater Portsmouth, we can tell you he's quite a Chamber member too. He's the kind of member who has participated with greater and greater frequency, working his way into one of the two business networking groups within the Chamber—the Connect & Collaborate groups--and also serving as a Chamber Ambassador.
Nowadays, Lee will tell you he wants to collaborate with more sustainably-minded businesses. Ask him about 1% for the Planet, an international organization whose members contribute at least one percent of their annual sales to environmental causes. Or—better yet—watch this 2 minute video and he'll tell you about it.
Also, Lee takes terrific photographs, and can fashion items out of leather and steel. But that's neither here nor there, and just further shows how seriously neat it is to get to know Lee. We'd recommend it.

November 2021 - Calling All Cargo Moving & Storage
A moving company that started on a card table in an apartment in Dover has now expanded to the Eastern Seaboard. Mike Carlton, president of Calling All Cargo Moving & Storage has added two tractor-trailers to his fleet to help transport anything and everything from their Dover and Greenland facilities all the way to their brand-new branch in West Palm Beach, Fla. (a city that he now calls home.) Carlton is proud of his company, and also very proud of his military background as a U.S. Marine—actively recruiting and hiring veterans to work for him whenever possible.
Community service is also very important to Carlton and co. They’ve got a heckofa history of transporting evergreens for the Dover chamber’s Festival of Trees many years running. Carlton also was entered into a community contest that required he dance a ballet with a former prima ballerina for Boston Ballet Company. (They won.)
Winning seems to be in the cards for Calling All Cargo. Their philosophy involves hustling, working hard, no smoking (no smoke breaks!) and giving back to the community.

When Steven Goldberg, Seacoast SCORE's Chair and Ira Hoffman, Seacoast SCORE's Vice Chair and Kiska Alexandropoulos, Chapter Administrator, greet us at their 230 Commercial Way office, they're quick to point out that technically, Seacoast SCORE is not a business. But—we told them they are MIGHTY great at serving the Seacoast and their programs have a terrific ripple effect on local and regional businesses, so they are this month's Small but MIGHTY Award recipients! What Seacoast SCORE is is an organization (and a pretty terrific one at that.)
If you're in business on the Seacoast, you have most likely heard of Seacoast SCORE, which has been serving the New Hampshire, southern Maine, and northern Massachusetts Seacoast since 1964. Someone you know may have even used and enjoyed their services. You may even be friends with some of the business minds manning the shop (no--it's not a shop either!)

Portsmouth Eats offers tours with tempting titles such as the Sweet and Savory Tour, Best of Portsmouth Walking and Tasting Tour and the White Table Cloth Culinary Tour. Their site spells it all out for you, and says, "On your own, you might miss something, but with Portsmouth Eats, we will show you around as our guest. We'll introduce you to the top chefs and they will treat you to fine dining and delicious tastings. We'll guide you through a city with a firm place in American history. You can ask us anything about visiting and touring Portsmouth, because we are here to help make your trip a pleasant and delicious experience."In addition, Colleen is director of events and marketing for the Hampton Area Chamber of Commerce. Her path sometimes meshes with the tourism contingent at the Chamber Collaborative--for instance, she shared a booth with the Chamber at the NY Times Travel show in January and will also be sharing a booth with them at the Dream Destinations trade show in Springfield, Mass on April 28. Colleen attended Le Cordon Bleu, taking gastronomic tourism classes. Her son is a senior at UNH, double majoring in EcoGastronomy and mechanical engineering.
Plus, we have it on good authority that Colleen is extremely witty, loves to travel and is a foodie of the highest order. (Which dovetails nicely with Portsmouth Eats, don't you think?)
